Why Did God Make Gay People?
The evolutionary origins of bad theology
One argument I hear all the time from LGBT affirming people is that “God made LGBT people so therefore there’s nothing intrinsically wrong with it.”
It is surprising to me just how prevalent and popular this argument is given that it can be easily debunked with a single counter example: The evidence for pedophilia being “hardwired” is just as convincing as the evidence for LGBT being “hardwired.” So clearly a trait or desire having some “hardwired” basis is not thereby an automatic endorsement of its moral justification.
You’d think that would be obvious, but I’ve come to realize people really bristle when you make that analogy. Btw, the actual honest scientific answer is we don’t know the true psychogenic cause of sexual orientation and all we can say right now is that it’s some combination of nature and nurture, which is also what the Catholic Catechism says in her wisdom as Holy Mother Church.
What I want to focus on in this article is why this “argument from Creation” seems so compelling to so many people.
The argument seems to go as follows:
God created LGBT people
If God creates something, it’s good in the eyes of God
Therefore, LGBT people are good in the eyes of God
Premise 1 is obviously true insofar as God is the Creator of the universe and author and sustainer of all reality.
Premise 2 is obviously where things go off the rails. And as I mentioned before, pedophilia is a clear counter example.
But why do so many people believe in premise 2? It seems to be a widespread belief in the LGBT and broader liberal community.
I want to propose a hypothesis: people are likely to believe this because evolutionary theory and naturalism has become the dominant mythology of the secular world, which replaced the Creationist account that centers Adam and Eve, original sin, and the fact we now live in an entirely fallen and corrupted world, leading to concupiscence.
The concept of original sin and concupiscence is almost unthinkable to the modern mind, so much has it been corrupted by the mythology of evolution.
But what’s the connection? How do we get from evolutionary theory to the premise “If God creates something, it must be good”?
It’s because another popular argument for LGBT not being disordered is that we see behavioral analogues of homosexuality in the animal kingdom so therefore homosexuality is “natural” and just part of “normal natural variation” and if it’s just part of “normal natural variation” then it cannot be morally bad to act on “normal natural” desires.
Which again comes up against an obvious counter example: rape also seems to be widespread in the animal kingdom and very much “natural.” So does infanticide and cannibalism. So we cannot just look to animal behavior to easily read off an ethics for our own lives.
But why is this argument so convincing? It’s because Satan has used evolutionary theory to great effect to convince vast swathes of people of the lie that humans are just mere animals, no different in principle from any other animal. We are just slightly more evolved apes who emerged from slime billions of years ago. We are just meat machines and our morality stemmed from the adaptive pressures of the Serengeti and basic animalistic tribalism.
So this has become the dominant mythology through which modern man understands himself: we are just evolved apes, meat machines, and morality is derived, not from God, but from evolutionary adaptive mechanisms: whatever promotes evolutionary success in the tribe is thereby “moral” so in theory maybe having a gay uncle would serve some adaptive benefit, so therefore being gay is perfectly natural, and thereby perfectly good.
If this is the dominant mythology of modern man, is it any surprise he buys into the argument that “If God creates something in nature, it must be good?”
This is because evolutionary theory has no conception of design and therefore no concept of teleology.
And this is the primary reason why modern man is so ready to assent to these lies of the Devil: he has forgotten that he was designed by God, and that purpose and design is literally embedded into his very nature as a human being.
According to evolutionary theory, our sexual organs aren’t designed “for” anything. This is Dawkin’s famous “blind watchmaker.” There are no intrinsic purposes in nature. It seems as if there are intrinsic purposes and intrinsic designs baked into nature, but this is just an illusion, an artifact of random chance and blind evolutionary chance striving by sheer mechanical happenstance.
And so if you don’t think your sexual organs are designed for any purpose, it’s going to be very easy to think that it is up to us to decide how we ought to use our sexual organs. For Design proponents, however, it’s quite obvious that the penis was designed for the procreative sex with a vagina and not recreational sex with an anus. And the principle of Natural Law is that we ought to act in accordance with how we were designed.
But this concept is so foreign to modern man, who refuses to see himself as part of a natural order derived from God. Modern man sees himself fundamentally not as part of a created order with intrinsic designs baked in, but as a giant cosmic accident, mere star stuff as famed atheist Carl Sagan used to say.
And because modern man cannot think in terms of teleology, it’s easy to see why he buys so readily into this premise that if we see it in nature it must be good.
Which quite naturally leads to the following line of question in people who struggle with same sex desire: why did God make me like this? Why did God give me these desires if he doesn’t want me to act on them?
Again, LGBT people bristle at this analogy, but pedophiles ask themselves the same question: why did God make me like this? Why did God give me these desires if he doesn’t want me to act on them?
Fundamentally, the reason why so many people in liberal progressive circles use this “argument from creation” is that they do not believe in the Genesis account. They think it’s just a fairy tale. And because they don’t believe the Genesis account, they don’t believe in original sin and concupiscence. They literally cannot even fathom the concept of living in a “fallen world.”
And that, my friends, is why I believe Darwin’s Origin of Species was part of Satan’s long game for eventually undermining marriage and the family. In order to combat the evils of LGBT ideology, we Christians must focus on evolutionary mythology so that people can understand original sin, concupiscence, and teleology. Without these three concepts, Christians will be entirely unable to answer the most pressing question any gay Christian asks themselves: “Why did God make me like this?”

As long as I think I am ok, I am ok, and the mind disregards all wisdom and authority of God. Who is God,even, to those perishing. He must be foolish.
Let God's light pierce the darkness.
So alcoholism has a genetic component to it. That doesn’t mean that going out and getting plastered is ok. Getting drunk is a grave matter sin, the same as homosexual acts.
I think the Fall of Adam and Eve warped the order of creation, which is why we see things like diseases and people born with certain sinful dispositions like alcoholism and mosquitos feeding on human blood and stuff like that.
