Whoa. Can I interview you???? I’m starting a video podcast where I’m capturing people’s experiences with God, regardless of faith background to capture the work God is doing in the lives of people everywhere and to create a space of unity and love around faith based conversations. I would LOVE to get your story. I’ve built a couple other interview based communities online that have all been about telling stories that help people experience God. It’s kinda my thing. Let me know!!!!
Such as great testimony. As one who has come out of a conservative evangelical church background, I look with a level of suspicion and doubt at the claims that the communion/Eucharist elements are anything other than wine/grape juice and a tasteless wafer. Your experience of God and your finding a power in the Eucharist deserves to be seriously considered.
May I just draw your attention to the old testament when God had the Hebrews in captivity take a lamb, slay it, paint the blood on the doorway and consume the lamb and so spare the family from the death of the firstborn?
It was real blood. It was real roast lamb. Almightly God did the smiting and the sparing.
The Eucharist is real unleavened bread, fermented grape juice to wine - Almighty God does the blessing and transforming and healing.
Reality is spacetime and spirit. Science is one-eyed, vision is binocular.
This is a very interesting piece Ray, and I think you're very courageous to share as humbly as you did. Your paragraphs on pornography and masturbation spoke to me, as I had an identical experience after being exposed to porn as a child (though being female my desires were not AGP related). I'm delighted to hear the transformative power of Christ in your life - God really does heal all, and is the only One who can satisfy us in the depths of our souls.
I don't intend to be nosy, but are you attracted to women at all? I ask because, while I'm familiar with AGP, I wonder if a recovering AGP like yourself would be interested in engaging in a healthy adult relationship when the time is right.
Yes, very much attracted to women. As are most AGPs. God willing, I would be very interested in a sacramental marriage to a good Catholic woman. But I need to first prove to myself and God that I can be a man of virtue that a woman deserves. And I am recently divorced. So my focus really ought to be on my spiritual life right now as a new convert. But I am open to the Providential Will of God to bring someone into my life if He so wishes to bless me with the vocation of marriage.
I loved this article. I too am a convert converted by the love of God in the Eucharist. I too was set free from my compulsive sexual disorder. It’s been 20 years now since my conversion. Like you Alex, I was moved to go to daily mass and it converted me as well and continues to do so in deeper and deeper ways as I remain in my daily mass and prayer connection to this perfect love in the Eucharist. Here is a talk I did last year that might be helpful to you and maybe your readers about some things I learned for deeper conversion of our beautiful God given desire for intimacy. https://youtu.be/JMQqMQ62n14?si=FNBdmgQuKmP6Z0pX
I absolutely love this! This goes for any kind of addiction. Every day is a renewing of the mind. Every day is a receipt of daily bread. Everyone must start every day in that state of mind. Otherwise the familiarity of all the old trails into the forbidden forests will be happy to see our feet on them. There is no greater challenge than to do what needs to be done until our days on earth are finished.
Hi Ray. I’m writing a book for new Christians or curious seekers. I wondered if I could potentially quote some parts of your extraordinary article in a chapter? My book with Hodder Faith is an ecumenical and small o orthodox project inspired by Rod Dreher (Benedict Option, Live Not by Lies)
The chapter in the first section is on “truth” and the sacrifices we have to make to live in the Truth. We’d used a story of Oli London but after six months can’t seem to get hold of him. I think your story here is just, if not more, powerful. I’ll speak to my editor (a Catholic) and see if we can do a bit of re write to include you in it. My email is cybervicar@gmail.com I can email in you in a few weeks time a draft chapter
It’s spot on where this book aims its target. I’ve summarised lots and lots of personal testimonies across the denominations that talk into this. Thank you for your witness
Beautiful story. I am glad you found the way out of your personal darkness. Thank you for being honest about sin, not enough people fully reckon with it publicly as you did here.
Your blog is incredible. I respect you so much for this! And I appreciate how honest and open you are about things that take courage to say both within the church and outside of it! You are such a light! 🕯️
From a Pentecostal to a Catholic: What a powerful and beautiful testimony! Thank you for sharing this Ray. You do “transparency” so well, I’m taking notes here. You are both so transparent and also so mature as you write about this, which we often think of “mature” as above or removed from something, and maybe this is your spiritual set apartness shining through your writing. But it’s not a stale or impersonal maturity. I guess I’m still gathering the words to describe this depth I felt in your writing, but thank you again.
Thank you for sharing your story. I will continue praying for our granddaughter that at 17, she identifies as a boy. I pray that our daughter and all of her family that Jesus surrounds them so much that no more will our granddaughter do those things.
And I agree with you that taking the Eucharist is the answer!
Hi Alex, What a miracle you have witnessed. I am wondering if you would be open to do an interview on our Podcast. If so would you please let me know how we could get in touch. God Bless
God bless you Alex. You give me hope for my poor lost son. Please pray for us; his name is Martin.
Don’t give up hope! I will pray for you and your family 🙏❤️
And hope to me for my son, and for all the lost children. Thank you.
Happy for you! Christ saved my life a few years ago when I was in the darkest of times.
Thank you for sharing your story! So happy for you and your new found faith in Christ! May He continue to restore and remold you in His likeness!
